Are you a lady angler looking for a fun group to enjoy your hobby with or have you always wanted to take up fishing but never seemed to have the time? Now that you have joined the PGI Civic Association your next step should be to join the PGI Fishing Club. Our lady anglers are some of the best in South Florida. Some are very competitive and some simply enjoy being outdoors and taking a needed break from managing a home. Many enjoy fishing the shallow waters of Charlotte Harbor but also enjoy an occasional charter out to the Gulf.
The vast majority of our club anglers practice “catch and release” to support local fish stocks but our lady anglers occasionally bring home a nice fresh fish for dinner. Our lady fisherman don’t only fish, they also help manage the club. Many are now on the Board of Directors. You can take part in the monthly meetings, the annual picnic and the awards dinner party where you can dance the night with their favorite partner. The gals also get together monthly at one of our fine local restaurants for a nice luncheon.
Many times, while fishing for the fun of it, someone will be catapulted to the head of the competition because of one lucky catch. That someone could be you and that could put you on your way up the ladder of achievement for an award or even becoming a Master Angler.
Now that you know about us and what we do, plan on attending the Punta Gorda Isles Fishing Club meeting on June 8, as our guest. You will be warmly welcomed. We meet at 7 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at the PGICA building. I’m sure you will see why our members enjoy being part of this wonderful club. Check out our newsletter or by contacting our membership Director, Donnie Brennan at 575.8808 or via email at L3th@comcast.net Membership cost of only $20 per year for you and your fishing mate and has got to be about the best value you will ever get for such a small amount. See you at the meeting!
