Along with the new look for the Commentator, in the near future, you will be seeing a new web-site; new promotional materials, new social and educational events, more opportunities for you help show the community how much the PGICA enhances the lives of residents and visitors.  The Marketing Team has begun an aggressive publicity campaign to keep the PGICA in the news.  We are helping all the Directors in producing more and better print materials.  We are helping deliver social and educational events of interest to you.

Janice (Jan) Murphy is the Public Relations Coordinator. Jan tells the community about what is going on at the PGICA and she looks for opportunities for the Association to be an active participant in the Punta Gorda community. Hopefully, you have noticed that the Association is regularly in the local newspapers with event announcements and news about the Association.

Terry Miller is the Events Coordinator.  Terry plans events for all members of the Association as well as some events open to the public. Terry’s committee of volunteers helps develop ideas into successful events.  She also assists in producing events that have been scheduled by other Board Directors.  Following are some of the social events you will want to put on your calendar:

  • March 12 the Perfect Chords back for another Doo Wop Dance
  • March 17 St Patrick’s Day Pot Luck Dinner and Dance
  • April 5, First Annual Easter Egg Hunt
  • April 17, the Perfect Chords Doo Wop Dance
  • May 1, Kentucky Derby at St. Andrews

Details can be found on the web-site; in the Commentator; and soon will be broad-cast via e-mail to interested members.

The First Tuesday Lecture Series has been a huge success.  The next one is March 2nd with a lecture on Sharks by a Mote Marine Biologist, Dr. Joe Lappin.  On April 6th Bill Tiegs will talk about travel in Antarctica. Don’t miss the Farr Law Firm free lecture series starting February 25th. Check-out the educational lectures being offered by the Association and by the Renaissance Academy at the Association (see the Education Directors Report).  Details for all lectures are available on the web-site.

If you have some ideas, suggestions or concerns that you would like to express, please send them to me mkjollett@comcast.net.  If you would like to help with event planning, writing, promotional materials, or any other aspect of Marketing the PGICA, let me hear from you.
