PGICA Granted New Nonprofit Status
December 28, 2004

PGICA was granted 501(c)(3)  nonprofit status by the IRS on December 28, 2004. It had been a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. Now donations since March 23, 2004 as well as future donations are tax deductible.

This new status will allow the PGICA to seek grants from other nonprofit organizations--all for the betterment of our community.  The mission of PGICA is to enhance the quality of life in Punta Gorda Isles as a leading waterfront community.  With almost 4,000 members, it is a central information resource for residents and a conduit of their concerns to city and county governments.

The PGICA began in 1962, purchased the building at 1800 W. Marion in 1978, and in September 2005 moved to a new building at Shreve and Magdalena. For additional information about PGICA check our website or call Carol Rose at 639-5056.
