Mission & Goals
Mission Statement
A mission statement sets forth the organization’s purpose and philosophy. Although basically the same as that developed in 2001, our mission emphasizes that we have achieved a great deal and that as an association, we will continue:
To enhance the quality of life in Punta Gorda Isles
as a leading waterfront community.
Goals
To fulfill this mission, the association will direct its efforts to the following goals:
- TO BE THE PGI CENTRAL INFORMATION RESOURCE.
- TO PROVIDE ACTIVITIES AND SET POLICIES THAT ENCOURAGE RESIDENTS TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN PGICA.
- TO FOSTER PRIDE IN PGI AND THE ASSOCIATION.
- TO EDUCATE THE RESIDENTS OF PGI AND REPRESENT THEIR INTERESTS ON MATTERS AFFECTING OUR COMMUNITY.
- TO PARTICIPATE ACTIVELY IN THE COMMUNITY OF PUNTA GORDA AS A WHOLE.
Principles:
Principles are stated within a strategic plan to clarify the philosophical guidelines or values held by the Board of Directors, members, and staff in implementing the organization’s activities.
- PGICA values and respects the many contributions provided by our Volunteers.
- PGICA is committed to involving members in establishing Association policies.
- PGICA values collegiality and interaction and respects diversity among members.
- PGICA is committed to increasing the Association’s relevance in the Lives of its members.
- PGICA values collaboration and partnerships with organizations and agencies in furthering its mission and goals.
- PGICA values and promotes public policy that supports the community of Punta Gorda Isles and Punta Gorda as a whole.
- PGICA is committed to supporting community efforts for enhancing the quality of life in PGI.
- PGICA is committed to utilizing PGICA’s new Civic Center and resources for the benefit of members and the community.
- PGICA is committed to maintaining integrity in conducting the business of the Association.
- PGICA is committed to the effective and efficient operations of our organization.
Strategic Objectives:
Strategic Objectives identify the major Accomplishments that the organization seeks to achieve over a specified period of time (e.g., two to three years).
- COMMUNICATION: PUBLICIZE THE ASSOCIATION’S POLICIES, PROCEDURES, PROGRAMS, AND ACTIVITIES.
- EDUCATION: PROVIDE MEANINGFUL AND EFFECTIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.
- LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS: MONITOR LAND DEVELOPMENT REGULATIONS TO ASSURE CONTINUATION OF THE BENEFITS OF LIVING IN A DEED RESTRICTED COMMUNITY.
- HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE: DEVELOP AND SUPPORT INITIATIVES THAT PROVIDE FOR THE HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE OF OUR COMMUNITY.
- CRITICAL ISSUES: STRENGTHEN THE ORGANIZATION’S CAPACITY FOR TIMELY RESPONSE TO ISSUES AFFECTING OUR COMMUNITY.
- RECOVERY AND BEAUTIFICATION: FOSTER AND SUPPORT DISASTER MITIGATION AND RECOVERY PROGRAMS FOR PGI.
- MEMBERSHIP: STRENGTHEN MEMBERSHIP PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES TO INCREASE PRESIDENT PARTICIPATION IN PGICA.
- ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND FINANCIAL INTEGRITY: ENHANCE THE ASSOCIATION’S GOVERNANCE, FINANCIAL, AND OPERATIONAL STRUCTURES TO SUPPORT THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN.
